    Amazing tour to the summit!

My wife and I took this tour in late July 2026, and we highly recommend it! Our guide, Chris, was absolutely amazing. The van was very comfortable, which I really appreciated as I was recovering from a back injury. Even though it was 90 degrees at ground level, the summit was freezing. Chris provided really nice winter jackets and hot cocoa, so the temperature drop was not an issue at all. The summit views were stunning, and the stargazing was such a wonderful first-time experience for me that I might just pick it up as a new hobby. I can't recommend this tour enough.

Memorable Mauna Kea Summit Tour, but Some Improvements Needed

We visited the Mauna Kea Summit on July 25, 2026, and overall, it was a memorable experience. Our guide, James, was knowledgeable, familiar with the summit area, and managed the group well. He took amazing photos, served the food at the right time, and provided hot chocolate after the summit. The repeated warnings about altitude sickness made our family unnecessarily anxious, though we understand safety was the priority. The stargazing experience needs improvement. The team worked hard to manage a broken telescope, but at around $280 per person, better equipment is expected. We were disappointed that our family was not allowed to switch seats and remained in the last row while others were moved around, with some receiving preferred seating. All guests should be treated equally. Despite these concerns, the summit itself was beautiful, and the overall tour was enjoyable.

Great Sunset Tour, Just Wanted More Stars!

We had a great experience with our guide Chris! The tour felt very safe, and he was friendly, helpful, and shared many interesting information about the Big Island, Hawaii, and the volcanoes on our way to Mauna Kea. The jackets and gloves provided were very useful in the cold, the sandwich and hot cocoa was good, and the sunset was beautiful! One suggestion would be to place a bit more emphasis on the astronomy portion of the tour. We expected to spend a little more time on that part and to learn or observe a bit more. That said, we understand that the nearly full moon on the night of our tour may have limited the visibility of the stars, so this may have been due to the sky conditions rather than the tour itself. Overall, it was a well-organized and enjoyable experience!

    Amazing tour with James

We joined the stargazing tour to Haleakalā Observatory and had an absolutely incredible night. Huge shoutout to our guide James! He has such a warm, easygoing personality, and he took amazing photos for our group. The summit landscape of Haleakalā volcano is breathtaking. James explained constellations and astronomy knowledge clearly and vividly, making stargazing so engaging. The sandwich and hot cocoa provided were perfect to recharge our energy at the chilly high elevation. Everything was well-organized. This tour is absolutely worth booking if you visit Maui! Highly recommend.
